My academic training initiated with a degree in sport science and physical education from the Faculty of Sport of the University of Porto (2006), a master of science in exercise science from the George Washington University (2009) and a Ph.D. in physical rehabilitation science at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (2017). After a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, I moved to the UK for a postdoctoral research assistant and associate lecturer position at Oxford Brookes University. I returned to Portugal in 2019 for a position as a university lecturer in the Department of Physical Education and Sport Sciences, at the University of Maia, while maintaining collaborative work with Oxford Brookes University as associate lecturer and visiting academic. Since then I've started my position as Assistant Professor in the same institution while working in the areas of health sciences and sports sciences through continuing to advance my scientific experience in the field of neuromotor control, neuromuscular performance, exercise rehabilitation and fall prevention in the aged population.
