Neuza Domingues (ND) is an Auxiliary researcher at MIA-Portugal, Coimbra university, a member of Nuno Raimundo's lab. She completed her PhD in 2018 at the Research Center for Chronic Diseases (CEDOC), Nova-Medical School | Universidade Nova de Lisboa, on the subject of Cardiovascular diseases, namely addressing the proatherogenic effect of oxidized lipids. The work performed during her PhD and her postdoc at Coimbra Institute for Clinical and Biomedical Research (iCBR), Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra, in Group of Ubiquitin-dependent Proteolysis and Intercellular Communication, afforded her the opportunity of acquiring extensive experience in Molecular and Cellular Biology, Cell culture and Animal Model in Biomedical research. During the past 10 years, the focus of ND research has been the molecular mechanisms underlying the lysosome's role in cell homeostasis, namely the investigation of lysosomal exocytosis impact on inflammation and more recently, in the cellular response to damaged lysosomes (under revision in EMBO Journal). Nowadays, the main focus of her research is the interplay between lysosomal dysfunction and nuclear homeostasis, highlighting the lysosome lipid signature as the main responsible for lysosome-nucleus cross-talk. Her research allowed ND to publish in different research fields, presenting 16 peer-reviewed papers, of which 5 as first author, 2 as corresponding author, published in first quartile journals with a total of 426 citations, being an accumulated impact factor of 35.3 and an h-index of 10 (Scopus ID: 55704703800). Importantly, two of ND¿s first author works were selected for journal covers. ND was a team member of Research Grant Fellow in 2 different funded projects. In addition, ND participated in several national and international meetings, with 4 oral communications and more than 15 poster communications, including Lysosomal Diseases- Gordon Research Conferences (2017, 2023), EMBO Workshop Proteostasis: From organelles to organisms and several Portuguese Meeting on Signal Transduction ¿ SINAL, RESET ageing, among others. Additionally, ND was invited for oral communication in the JNCL Young Investigator Symposium organized by NCL foundation, in Hamburg, Germany. During her career path, ND had the privilege to do research training in two highly prestigious institutes, the Karolinska Institute, in Sweden, and Weizmann Institute, in Israel. Since she strongly believes that research needs to reach the general community, ND actively participates in outreach activities, such as the European Researchers' Night, NOVA Medical School and CEDOC open days. ND was already the main supervisor of two Master students, and she is currently supervising a PhD student. Furthermore, ND also contributed to the practical training of several others undergraduate, master and PhD students during their curricular lab rotation. ND also actively participated in several lectures as part of advanced courses integrated into the Master's and PhD programs at the Faculty of Medicine of Coimbra University. Her research path gave ND the qualities necessary to assume laboratory management roles, as well as the capacity to deal daily with professionals from diverse research backgrounds and foster interdisciplinary and global collaborations.
