As a researcher for The Health & Technology Research Center (H&TRC) at the Instituto Politécnico de Lisboa Escola Superior de Tecnologia da Saúde de Lisboa, I specialize in exposure assessment, and public and environmental health and occupational health. I completed my master’s degree in clinical laboratory technologies and my bachelor’s degree in forensic and criminal Sciences. Throughout my academic and professional journey, I have published 15 articles so far, in specialized journals, including the most recent ones "Microbial contamination in grocery stores from Portugal and Spain: the neglected indoor environment to be tackled in the scope of the One Health approach" and "Occupational exposure to fungi and mycotoxins: overview of different studies developed in Portugal". I also contributed to two book chapters related with these topics ("Microbial occupational exposure assessments in sawmills and Bioburden Assessment in Lisbon Groceries"). My research interests include mycology (fungal characterization, mycotoxins production, and azole resistance), cytotoxicity, environmental and occupational exposure in various settings. I have been involved in several projects, including the Occupational Exposure of Ambulance Drivers to Bioburden and Waste Workers' Exposure to Bioburden in the Truck Cabin during Waste Management. Furthermore, I have collaborated with IARC-WHO in the preparation of exposure data related with the IARC Monographs - Volume 132 Occupational Exposure as a Firefighter. In addition, I have worked in other research projects such as "AIR QUALITY IN SPORT FACILITIES: DEEP INSIGHT ON ULTRAFINE PARTICLES AND ON THE POTENTIAL PUBLIC HEALTH RISKS" and "MICROBIOLOGICAL CONTAMINATION PRESENT IN THE INDOOR AIR" in the Atmospheric Chemistry Group of the Center for Center for Environmental and Marine Studies (CESAM) at the University of Aveiro. I believe that my ongoing work aligns directly with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, which aims to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being as well as SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth which focuses on promoting sustained, inclusive, and productive employment, and decent work for all and indirectly with many other SDGs.
