I am a Design PhD student at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Porto, developing work at the crossroads of Design with Human-Animal Studies. The project "ALIVE - Human Animal Living: Designing with families for more-than-human cohabitation" researches the impact of objects and the material environment on human-animal relations, particularly those with cats and dogs in family households. In 2021, I joined the Human-Animal Studies Hub (HAS-Hub), based at ICS-ULisboa, where I am currently co-coordinating the biannual webinar "The Post-Human Animal". Recently, I was invited to be the keynote speaker at the UNIC More-Than-Human Design Seminar Series, organised by Oulu University in Finland. As a HAS-Hub member, I have collaborated in organising several academic events: the monthly Animal Wonder Reading Group, the annual HAS-Hub International Seminar, and the First Seminar of the Postgraduate Course "Animais & Sociedade''. I worked as a scientific assistant in the second edition of the Course "Animais & Sociedade'' between September 2022 and January 2023, assisting professors and students during and outside classes. I had the opportunity to teach one class in April 2023 on More-Than-Human Design in the master's programme Design for Sustainability at ICS-ULisboa. From April 2021 to September 2022, I was a research fellow at Project "CLAN - Children-Animals Friendships: challenging boundaries between Humans and non-humans in Contemporary Societies'' (PTDC/SOC 28415/2017) at ICS-Ulisboa. During this period, I collaborated with the research team in analysing and interpreting the fieldwork collected data; creating project databases; curating and selecting photographs for the project's exhibition; preparing the database for the Children's Photography Archive; organising workshops with project CLAN's children participants; organising the CLAN Conference and the CLAN Farewell Party. I have participated in producing several scientific outputs. Within the framework of the CLAN project, I did two presentations at the CLAN Final Conference, another in the "1st Meeting of Project and Social Sciences'' at FAULisboa, and one online webinar for "Direção Geral de Educação''. I contributed to creating a catalogue of the exhibition and an educational toolkit/manual with the project's PI and a visiting researcher. In 2021, and outside of the project CLAN work, I did an oral presentation at the Senses&Sensibility 2021 conference in Bari, Italy, where together with professor Luís Pessanha, we published one conference proceedings article, "Designing for a Multispecies Household: Development of Pet's Habitats". Regarding my academic training, I was a student in the first edition of the Animals and Society course in 2020/2021. Before that, I was a student in the Master in Product Design program at ESAD.CR (Polytechnic of Leiria), where I developed the Master thesis "Dignidade Animal" (Animal Dignity) and two prototypes for companion animals. I graduated in Communication Design at the University School of Fine Arts of Coimbra. My work and activities comprise: 2 co-authored conference proceedings publications, 1 co-authored exhibition catalogue, 1 co-authored toolkit/manual, and 1 Master Thesis. Other outputs include 1 co-authored entry in the Children Photo Archive and 2 Physical Objects. I gave 8 oral presentations and collaborated in organising 10 events.
