Cristina Alexandra Alves dos Santos is a researcher of UMIB (Unit for Multidisciplinary Research in Biomedicine). She received her bachelor’s in biology from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (FCUP) in July 2021. In 2023, she completed her MSc in Applied Biology on December 2023 at Aveiro University (UA). Having presented a thesis titled “Peripheral Immune Response and Its Epigenetic modulation in Human Refractory Epilepsy: a Preliminary study” under the supervision of Bárbara Guerra Leal, PhD at Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas Abel Salazar (ICBAS). During her master’s degree she attended several seminars such as the SupraLife First School “Functional Supramolecular Polymeric Biomaterials” and “Mind your Neuro”, organized by Scientic Junior Value. Additionally, she participated in UMIB Summit were she presented poster of its work. Her current research interests focus on compilation of knowledge about Molecular Biology especially in genetics and immunology. She also has experience in field work, cell culturing, gene expression analysis and RNA/DNA extraction. Currently she is applying to a Doctoral Degree in Biomedical Sciences granted by Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences-ICBAS.
