Liliana Dias holds a Master's degree in Biochemistry (2018) and a Bachelor's degree in Biology (2016) from the Faculty of Sciences and Technology, University of Coimbra. Currently pursuing a PhD in Health Sciences at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Coimbra, supported by an FCT PhD fellowship, focusing on the impact of stress conditions on aquaporin-4 and its modulation by adenosine A2A receptors. Her previous experience includes research on calcium dynamics and purinergic receptors in Alzheimer’s disease conditions, developed during her master’s thesis and further expanded through a research fellowship. These experiences contributed to the development of diverse skills in advanced cellular and molecular techniques. Published 8 peer-reviewed articles in journals such as Journal of Neurochemistry and International Journal of Molecular Sciences. Recipient of multiple distinctions, including travel grants for international conferences and participation in advanced training programs. Actively participated in numerous national and international scientific conferences, presenting her research findings. She has also been involved in outreach activities, such as neuroscience workshops for primary schools during Brain Awareness Week. Experienced in supervising undergraduate and master’s students, with a strong commitment to combining academic rigor with translational impact. Her research interests include astrocytes, neuropsychiatric and neurodegenrative disorders, including maladaptive stress, depression and Alzheimer's disease; glymphatic system, aquaporin-4, astrocytic calcium dynamics and adenosine A2A receptors.
