Ana Sá Sousa is an integrated researcher of PaCeIT - Technologies and Innovation Centered on the Patient, a research group from CINTESIS- Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade do Porto. She has a Graduation in Biochemistry (2007), a Master's degree in Evidence and Decision in Health (2011), and a Doctorate in Clinical Research and Health Services (2019). She was the principal investigator in 1 national project financed by FCT on Patient and Public Involvement in research, she has participated in 9 national projects aiming to the development and validation of tools with impact on healthcare, including the Severe Asthma Registry in Portugal, patient-reported questionnaires on screening and control of asthma and development of content and tools for patient empowerment. Other projects aimed at the estimation of the prevalence and impact of asthma in Portugal, namely in INAsma - National Asthma Survey, ICAR - Impact and Control of Asthma and Rhinitis and CASCA - Cost-of-illness of asthma in children. The AIRDOC - Smart Mobile Application for Individualized Support and Monitoring of the Respiratory Function and Sounds of Chronic Obstructive Patients. Current research focuses on the patients' involvement in clinical research, the development of patient-centred technology and on Severe Asthma Registry. She has co-authored 50 peer-reviewed papers (>980 citations in Publons, h-index 17) and 1 book chapter.
