My undergraduate background is Marine Biology and I have a masters degree in Molecular and Cellular biology. I have large experience in zebrafish manipulation, such as transgenesis assays for enhancer activity, genotyping techniques, microinjection in one-cell stage, immunohistochemistry, confocal imaging, cryopreservation, CRISPR-Cas9 editing and screening in fluorescence microscopy, including in vivo caracterization of disease models, such as Type 2 Diabetes, in zebrafish. Furthermore, having the course FELASA functions A, B and D of the European Directive 2010/63 , I have all the necessary training to handle, manipulate and design research projects using mouse, rat, zebrafish and fish.. Additionally, I am highly experienced in cell culture techniques, including lentiviral infection, luciferase and loss-of-function assays. I held a research fellow (ERC201805) under the project The Pancreas Regulome: From causality to prediction of non-coding mutations in human pancreatic diseases, where I acquired and improved my skills in reporter assays in vivo in zebrafish and in vitro, in cell lines, using CRISPR based techniques. Also, I learned bioinformatic tools to explore data regarding cis-regulatory elements. The knowledge of transcriptional and cis-regulation acquired in the developing of my master project allowed me to have a special interest in how the cis-regulatory elements can work in perfect timepoints and locations. Recently, I had two first-author publications, including an article in the Diabetes American Journal. I have completed my PhD, supported by a FCT PhD fellowship (SFRH/BD/147762/2019), where I investigated the impact of cis-regulatory disruption on the development of type 2 diabetes. Currently, I have joined the Synapse Biology Group to investigate local translation within Müller glia in the retina. My research aims to understand how local translation affects these glial cells, which could provide valuable insights into their roles in synaptic regulation
