Nuno Gomes is a post-doctoral researcher (CEEC IND) at the William James Center for Research (University of Aveiro) - funded by an individual grant from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) - and an assistant professor at ISPA - Instituto Universitário. In May 2021, he obtained a PhD degree, funded by an individual doctoral fellowship from FCT, in Social Psychology at ISPA - Instituto Universitário, Portugal, with unanimous distinction and laudation. During his PhD, he was interested in understanding the modulatory effects of emotional chemosignals (e.g., fear body odors) and the presence of conspecifics on human vigilance. He also worked on an international research project (POTION) funded by the European Commission under the H2020 program, which explores the contribution of happy and fear-related body odors in modulating several dimensions of social relations. Currently, he is interested in understanding how aggression and happiness chemosignals may modulate the establishment of social relations in healthy and anosmic people. He has published 12 articles in international peer-reviewed journals (9 as the first author) in collaboration with 12 different researchers from national and international universities. He was also invited to give 2 talks at international universities/conferences and received 2 national awards. Keywords: Attention; Vigilance; Human Olfaction; Emotion-related Body Odors; Social Relations.
