Andrii Vovk (AV) graduated Semiconductors and Insulators (M.Sc. in Microelectronics Engineering) from Kyiv Politechnical Institute in 1989. After graduation he worked with the Institute of Metal Physics (1989-1995) and Institute of Magnetism (since 1995) of the NAS of Ukraine. In 1995 AV completed a PhD degree (Candidate of Sciences) in Physics and Mathematics with the Institute of Metal Physics NAS of Ukraine. In 1996 AV¿s intentional career has began. In 1996-1999 he worked as a Visiting Scientist with Forschungsinstitut fur edelmetalle und metallchemie, Schwaebisch Gmuend, Germany. In 1999-2000 he worked as a Secretary of the Organizing Committee of the 8th European Magnetic Materials and Applications Conference EMMA-2000, Kyiv, Ukraine. In 2000-2003 as a Post-doctoral researcher and in 2003-2006 as a Research Specialist with Advanced Materials Research Institute at the University of New Orleans, USA (sponsored by DARPA and NSF projects). His researches were targeted on magnetic and magneto-transport measurements and structural characterization of heterogeneous thin films, low dimensional nanostructures and Heusler alloys. He developed extensive skills in operation of different modern scientific instruments, cryogenic techniques and measurement procedures for nanostructured magnetic materials in the broad range of magnetic fields, temperatures and resistance values. In 2000-2001 he was in charge for SQUID magnetometer, in 2002-2004 for Physical Properties Measurement System (PPMS) and in 2002-2006 for Thin Films Laboratory and AFM to provide support for student's projects and ensure coordination between teams that were utilizing instruments. He was involved in design project for UHV multi-target magnetron sputtering system, installation and tests for PPMS, SQUID and EPR spectrometer. In 2007 AV obtained Doctor of Sciences Degree (equivalent to the D.Sc. in the UK or Doctorat d'Etat in France) from NAS of Ukraine in the field of Magnetism for investigations on nanostructured films of 3d transition metals. During 2007-2009 AV worked as a Research Specialist with the Institute of Nanoscience of Aragon, Zaragoza, Spain. Studies were focused on magnetic properties investigations of discontinuous Fe/MgO multilayers and establishing correlations between their magnetotransport and microstructure. Since 2009 AV has been working as Investigador Auxiliar with Universidade de Lisboa (supported by FCT Ciencia 2008 Program). The investigations were closely connected with previous activities and include magnetic and transport properties of discontinuous metal-insulator multilayers (DMIM), Heusler alloys, composite films prepared by reactive sputtering. Since January 2018 AV is working with Universidade do Porto, Institute of Physics for Advanced Materials, Nanotechnology and Photonics (IFIMUP). He was involved in NECL Infrastructure project (Network of Extreme Conditions Laboratories, financed by FCT and Programa Operacional Regional do Norte (NORTE 2020)). AV was local coordinator for FCT sponsored project 'Arrays of magnetic tunnel junctions from nanogranular layered structures in hybrid insulating host (PTDC/FIS/120055/2010)'. AV published 55 papers in international peer review journals (Scopus database returns 550 citations, h-index=15). He taught master course 'Nanophysics' (2012-2013) and 'Thin Films Technologies' (2015-2016) and took care for 'Advanced Laboratories (Magnetic measurements/cryogenic techniques)' (2011) and 'Laboratório de Física' (2013) with the Faculdade de Ciencias at the University of Lisboa. In 2020-2023 AV was teaching master course of Multifunctional Nanostructures and in 2022-2023 master course of Material Sciences with Faculdade de Ciencias at the University of Porto.
