I completed my Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences, at the University of Porto (Portugal) in 2014. Then, I moved to Instituto de Medicina Molecular João Lobo Antunes (University of Lisbon, Portugal), for my first postdoctoral stage (2015-2021), where I worked at the labs of Prof. Maria Carmo-Fonseca and Dr. Claus M. Azzalin. During my first postdoctoral stage, I gained expertise in confocal microscopy and molecular biology techniques to study gene expression in human cells. In 2018, I was a visiting researcher at the lab headed by Prof. Alberto R. Kornblihtt (University of Buenos Aires, Argentina), which further expanded my knowledge of gene regulation. In 2021, I moved to the lab headed by Dr. John G. Jones, at CIBB, Centre of Innovative Biomedicine and Biotechnology (University of Coimbra, Portugal), where I did the biological interpretation of a complex dataset of gut microbiome alterations of mice under different diets. I am currently a junior researcher at the Department of Medical Sciences and Institute of Biomedicine - iBiMED (University of Aveiro, Portugal). My work includes research activities and co-supervision of graduate students, along with teaching duties. My international collaborators include Prof. Maria Teresa Valenti (University of Verona, Italy), Prof. Graciela L. Boccaccio (Leloir Institute Foundation, Argentina), and Prof. Carlos Pérez-Plasencia (National Autonomous University of Mexico, Mexico). I have been a team member in four funded projects (including MSCA RISE 734825-LysoMod). Since December 2019, I have co-supervised one B.Sc. student, four M.Sc. students, and two visiting Ph.D. students. I have published multiple peer-reviewed articles (fifteen since December 2019), delivered four oral presentations (two since December 2019), and presented several posters at international scientific meetings. I was a content creator for Medical JoyWorks (Wilmington, DE, USA). I currently hold a part-time language editor position at EditSprings (Wuhan, China), which awarded me a Certificate of Honor “Outstanding Editor” in 2023. Another recent honor was the invited publication of a Perspective article for Neural Regen. Res., also in 2023. In addition to evaluating posters and chairing oral sessions at national events, I have accepted peer-review invitations from more than twenty scientific journals and co-edited five special issues.
