Marta de Oliveira Rodrigues

Marta de Oliveira Rodrigues is a researcher at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD) and a collaborating member of the Centre for Research and Intervention in Education from the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Porto (CIIE - FPCEUP). She holds a Doctorate in Education Sciences (FPCEUP), a degree in Sociology of Organizations from the University of Minho (UMinho), and a master's in Educational Sciences – major in Adult Education by UTAD. She is a member of the research community of practice Youth, Education, Diversity and Innovation (JEDI) of CIIE and External Evaluation Committees of the Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education (A3ES), integrating External Evaluation Committees. She has participated and/or conducted, as a research fellow and a doctoral fellow, research projects in the area of quality/equity in education focused on the academic pathways of children and young people attending compulsory education: EDUPLACES – Educating Places: practices, voices and pathways of inclusive education (PTDC/MHC-CED/3775/2014) and Socio-educational practices of countertendency: (re)construction of atypical academic pathways and professional knowledge and learning in education (SFRH/BD/143386/2019). At UTAD, she previously collaborated as a research fellow developing an investigation in digital platforms and educational management: DigP-SEM - Digital Platforms in the Educational Management of School Groups (PTDC/CED-EDG/29069/2017). At an international level, she was a member of the working group 2 (WG2) – 'Rural NEETs, and formal and non-formal education', within the scope of COST Action CA18213 - Rural NEET Youth Network: Modeling the risks underlying rural NEETs social exclusion'. She is currently a member of the research group WG1 – 'Social Networks and Social Inclusion' of the European Rural Youth Observatory (EURYO) and a future member of the COST Action IG18213 - Future Youth Information for Rural Areas (FYI-R). In the academic year 2018/2019, she was involved in teaching at UTAD, developing the curricular unit " Education for the media" of the Master’s in Pre-school and Primary Education Teaching and contributed to the teaching of the curricular unit "Educational Research" of the Master’s in Pre-school and Primary Education Teaching. In 2022, she also collaborated in teaching "Sociocultural Animation Projects" for the degree in Sociocultural Animation. She has published 7 articles (in Portuguese and English) in peer-reviewed journals, 2 book chapters (in Portuguese and English), and 3 reports (Portuguese and English). She has delivered over 20 peer-reviewed presentations at scientific events (Portuguese and English). She collaborated with more than 20 co-authors from 10 countries. Her current research interests focus on quality/equity in education, sociology of education, school failure and dropout, academic pathways, digital skills, artificial intelligence, NEET (not in employment, education, or training), formal and non-formal education, and qualitative methodologies.
