Adriana Mendonça is currently Esybee’s TeSP Learning AB research director, a collaborative research member at the Interactive Technologies Institute (ITI/LARSyS) and a learning assistant for young people with special educational needs at the National Centre for Young People with Epilepsy in the United Kingdom. She completed her PhD in Sciences of Education in 2014 at the University of Minho, with a speciality in Educational Technology. Adriana completed a Master of Science in Multimedia in Education at the University of Aveiro and a Bachelor of Sciences of Education at the University of Coimbra. Since 2002, Adriana has been working in education, including research on special education within the scope of her internship. In 2004, she dedicated herself to teacher training at Instituto Superior de Educação in Cabo Verde (currently, the University of Cabo Verde [Uni-CV]). Adriana worked as a lecturer at Uni-CV until 2016, which included teaching, pedagogical supervision, curricula design, orientation of bachelor’s and master’s theses, participating in multiple scientific juries, organisation of events and scientific commissions, among other academic and university extension activities. Has been working with Competence Center for Information and Communication Technologies in Education (2015-present) as permanent member of the Scientific Committee in Educational Technology at University do Minho and also at Cabo Verde University. Adriana also represented Uni-CV in several national and international projects and was a member of academic affairs at the Department of Social and Human Sciences at Uni-CV. She has participated in several national and international conferences and has several scientific publications and book chapters. Adriana as national director of education (2016-2017) was responsible for the management of pre-school, adult education, primary, secondary and professional education in Cabo Verde. Represented the Cape Verdean minister of education abroad in various educational activities, participating in work meetings to discuss educational policy with national and international partners. Was responsible by the foundation for inclusive and quality of education for all in Cabo Verde and for the curriculum design. Adriana worked mainly in the area of educational sciences. In 2016, she began developing guidelines for special education in Cabo Verde and since then, her research has focused on special needs in the UK and on the work of Esybee (a special education platform) with her multidisciplinary team in Sweden.
