Dr. Marta Mª Pazos Currás obtained the title of Doctor from the Universidade de Vigo (June 2007) with qualification Outstanding Cum Laude and Extraordinary Award. At the end of 2007, Dra. Pazos was selected through the Human Resources Program of the Xunta de Galicia under the figure "Angeles Alvariño". This allowed her to carry out 27 months of post-doctoral research stays in prestigious international centers Civil Engineering Department Denmark technical Univertity Denmark and Centro Ingeniería Biológica Universidade de Minho Portugal, as well as in the Instituto Madrileño de Investigación y Desarrollo Rural, Agrario y Alimentario. In 2010, Dr. Pazos was selected in the prestigious "Ramón y Cajal" program of the Ministryof Education and Science, which led to her participation as principal investigator in national and regional funding programs. The concession of 6 projects, as principal investigator, in these calls (more than 860K) has allowed the development of the different lines of research that Dr. Pazos has carried out in recent years. In addition, these projects have allowed her the support of the 13 Doctoral Thesis (most of them extraordinary prize and with international mention) that Dr. Pazos has directed. In parallel, the Dr. Pazos has supervised more than 60 end-of-study projects (https://www.uvigo.gal/es/universidad/administracion-personal/pdi/marta-maria-pazos-curras) as well as tutoring students in extracurricular internships and in the Erasmus Internship program. After the termination of the "Ramón y Cajal" contract (October 2016), Dr. Pazos gained a position of Profesor Contratado Doctor of the Universidade de Vigo and later she has obtained the position of Profesor Titular de Universidad (December 1, 2020). In this last stage, she has undergone the national evaluation of her Teaching Merits (3 track Quinquenios) and Researchers (3 track Sexenios). In addition, it has been positively evaluated by the Xunta de Galicia with the Complementos Autonómicos de Recoñecemento o Labor Docente e o Labor Investigador and presents 5 Tracks Complemento de Recoñecemento á Excelencia Curricular Docente e Investigadora. The work carried out throughout the professional career of Dra. Pazos has focused on the area of environmental technology, addressing both the remediation of contaminated soils and the treatment of effluents using biological and physical-chemical techniques. Throughout her research career, Dr. Pazos has been co-author of more than 180 indexed articles (H index 46), mainly in first and second quartile journals. More than 43% of the articles are in international collaboration, which demonstrated the internationalization of the Dr Pazos. Additionally, Dr. Pazos has published 6 book chapters, more than 250 communications to national and international conferences, some as keynotes and she has been a speaker in different scientific seminars of an informative nature. Since 2021, Dr. Pazos has been a member of the Editorial Board for the esteemed Chemical Engineering Journal, which boasts an impressive impact factor of 15.1 as of 2022 (D1). Dr. Pazos has participated in more than 30 research projects both nationally and internationally (WATER JPI, Spanish Agency for International Cooperation and through Integrated Actions Hispano-Portuguese). It is worth mentioning that, in recent years, the dissemination of the results of contaminated soils and effluents has aroused the interest of the business environment, which has resulted in several research contracts with companies, some of an international level. It has to point out that, Dr. Pazos has been PI of a probe of concept in the first call of the AEI PDC2021-121394-I00 in which the electroadsorption technology have been validated in a pilot plant reaching TLR5-6.
