Jorge Laranjeira pursued his PhD at the university of Aveiro under the supervision of Dr. Leonel Marques and Dr. Manuel Melle-Franco. During his PhD he collaborated directly with international groups working under the supervision of Emilio Martínez Núñez from Universidade de Santiago de Compostela Facultade de Química and Dr. Ion Errea from Centro de Física de Materiales both situated in Spain, under the scope of the HPC-Europa3 program. He completed his European doctorate degree on March 2024 and joined the DIPC on May of the same year as a postdoctoral researcher working under the supervision of Dr. Bo Chen. His research focuses on the study of molecules and crystalline structures under pressure using ab-initio methods. He has published 9 research articles including high impact factor journals such as carbon (x3) an small methods (x1), being first author in 8 of them. Jorge Laranjeira also has interest in teaching and science divulgation activities. Apart from Science he is an eternal lover of the two wheels both human and gas propelled.
