Gabriela Munhoz Morello completed her Ph.D. degree in Animal Sciences in 12/2015 by USDA-ARS Livestock Behavior Research Unit and Purdue University Department of Animal Sciences, Master in Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering in 06/2011 by University of Kentucky and Bachelor in Agricultural Engineering in 12/2008 by Universidade Estadual de Campinas. Gabriela is a research collaborator at Universidade do Porto - Instituto de Investigação e Inovação em Saúde (i3S) and the Scientific Team Leader at Common Home of Humanity (CHH). Published 26 articles in peer-reviewed journals. Helped to organize 7 events. Participated in 25 events. Has received 10 awards or honors. Participated as a Master Student (Graduate Research Assistant) in 1 project, Ph.D. Student Fellow (Graduate Research Assistant) in 1 project, both in the USA, Pos-doctoral Fellow in 2 projects (Australia and Portugal) and Scientific Initiation Fellow in 3 projects (Brazil). Gabriela worked in these projects fully funded by fellowships and assistantships persued by her. After concluding her Ph.D., Gabriela acted as an animal welfare research consultant for her team at the USDA and, six months later, Gabriela was awarded her first research grant to study pig pre-weaning mortality and behaviour in the Animal Welfare Science Centre, UoM, Australia. Her continued experience with animal breeding performance, behavior, and data science led her to her to be the main post-doctorate in the project Mouse Perinatal Mortality in the Laboratory Animal Science group (IBMC-i3S, University of Porto). Gabriela finished her second post-doc in 06/2020, worked for 2.5 yr as the Scientific Team Leader for Common Home of Humanity (CHH), and since March/2023 been a Jr. Researcher at the Laboratory Animal Science group in i3S, co-chairing the FCT-funded project VitalPup. Gabriela has been working in the area of Agrarian Sciences with emphasis on Animal Welfare, Animal Behavior, Laboratory and Production Animal Science, Engineering and Technology, Data Science and Environmental Controls for the past 16 years. In her professional activities, Gabriela was certified as an animal welfare auditor in Brazil and in the USA, was trained in a FELASA certified course in Portugal, interacted with 136 collaborators and co-authors of scientific studies. In her curriculum Ciência Vitae the most frequent terms in the context of scientific and technological output are: environmental controls; animal welfare; pre-weaning mortality; animal behavior; mouse survivability; machine learning; data mining; thermal comfort; laboratory mouse.
