Isabel Borges completed her PhD in Tourism, Leisure and Culture in 2017 at the University of Coimbra, holds a degree in International Marketing and Tourism Promotion in 1998 at the Instituto Superior de Ciências Empresariais e do Turismo and a bachelor's degree in Direction and Management of Tour Operators in 1996 at the Escola Superior de Hotelaria e Turismo do Estoril. She is a Coordinating Professor at the Escola Superior de Tecnologias de Fafe (IEES - European Institute of Higher Studies). She is Director of an Organisational Unit at the Fafe School of Technology. She is a researcher at REMIT at Universidade Portucalense Infante D Henrique, and a CEGOT researcher - Centre for Geography and Spatial Planning Studies at the University of Coimbra. She has published several articles in specialised journals in the field of Material Culture; Religious Tourism; Accessibility; Wine tourism; Douro; Vinhos Verdes; Cultural regions; Religious material culture; Tourism and development.
