Filipe Carvalho is a Portuguese research ecologist, who loved nature since was a little boy. He completed his studies at the University of Évora (BSc, MSc and PhD) in Portugal, mainly focusing on carnivore ecology and the human impacts (road ecology) on their distribution. Recently (2017) he moved to South Africa to conduct research on mesocarnivores ecology coexistence under different regimes of human and large predator pressures collaborating with the University of Porto (Portugal) and University of Fort Hare (South Africa). After more than 15 years studying carnivores using direct methods such as trapping and telemetry, or through indirect methods such as spoors (tracks and scats) and camera traps surveys, he is trying to catch up with scientific publications to share his work globally. He is a also a GIS and statistical analysis lover. He authored and/or reviewed several carnivore red list assessments in Europe, South Africa and Namibia. He published 17 papers in peer review journals and 8 book chapters.
