Since his years of study with Geoffrey Parsons in London in 1985-86, pianist Nuno Vieira de Almeida has been busy resurrecting many forgotten works for voice and piano by some important Portuguese composers. He has premiered many works by Fernando Lopes Graça, Joly Braga Santos and Luís de Freitas Branco, and recorded them extensively. He has also given first performances in Portugal of works by Benjamin Britten, Hugo Wolf, Arnold Schoenberg and Anton Webern, to name just a few. He is a teacher of repertoire and coordinator of the voice department at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa. He also holds a PhD in Historical Musicology from Universidade Nova de Lisboa. With actress Rita Blanco he gave the portuguese first audition of Strauss's Enoch Arden in 2021.
