Liliana Pires, PhD in Materials Science and Engineering in 2023 by University of Aveiro, Master in Materials Engineering in 2011 by University of Aveiro, Graduation in Technology and Product Design in 2009 by University of Aveiro. In 2009, she completed an internship at Bosch Termotecnologia S.A. in the scope of product development in the EWH (Engineering Water Heating) research and development department. From 2011 to 2023, she served as a trainer and invited assistant professor on a part-time basis (40-55%) at the School of Design, Management, and Production Technologies Northern Aveiro, University of Aveiro (ESAN-UA). Between 2014 and 2024, she held the position of managing partner at Spiracol Unipessoal Lda, an agricultural company. Since 2020, she has been the director of the Professional Higher Education Course in Mechatronic and Production Systems. In 2023, Liliana began teaching at ESAN-UA as an Invited Adjunct Professor on a part-time basis (60%), transitioning to a full-time Adjunct Professor in 2024. In her teaching role, she focuses in Industrial Technology, sub-area of digital technology, and Engineering Sciences. Additionally, she participates in school management and provides support in laboratories and equipment. She is also a member of the research team at the Associated Laboratory CICECO – Institute of Materials of Aveiro. As a researcher, she collaborates on scientific cooperation and R&D projects, on industrial technology and engineering and product design, with a particular emphasis on technologies and new materials (e.g. ceramics, composites, biomaterials) for additive manufacturing. Has some publications, mainly articles published in peer-reviewed journals and a book. Participated in the organization of several events (e.g., workshops, fairs, exhibitions) and served on the scientific committee of a conference. Since 2012, she has been organizing and conducting training sessions on polymer processing and additive manufacturing, fostering practical skill development among students and industry professionals. Supervised 1 master's thesis and is currently supervising 2 master's theses. Provided guidance and supervision to students at other levels of education (undergraduate, professional internships, secondary education). Received some awards for merit and participation in competitions. Has participated in courses within the specialization domain, scientific competitions, and international conferences. She served as president and main examiner for public examinations of research internship reports and chaired master's thesis defense panels at UA, showcasing her leadership and academic evaluation skills. Since 2020, Liliana has been actively involved in organizing and examining public presentations and defense sessions for internships in Professional Higher Education Courses, fostering industry-academia connections as a course director. She has also contributed to equipment acquisition through participation in public tenders, ensuring access to essential resources for scientific advancement. On the educational front, she has organized study visits to companies and exhibitions showcasing practical works from curriculum units, fostering interdisciplinary learning and community engagement within university. Additionally, she has organized workshops, training sessions, and showcases in Industrial Technology and Digital Technologies and actively participated in promoting ESAN-UA's educational offerings and collaborative projects with society.
