João Pedro George (Mozambique, 1972). PhD in Sociology of Culture from Universidade Nova de Lisboa, he was a professor at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences at the same University (1998-2008 and 2012-2014). Author of scientific texts in his area of academic specialization (Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, Fundação Francisco Manuel dos Santos or McGraw-Hill), he studied at Goldsmiths College (London) and was a Research Fellow at Brown University (USA). In addition to the conferences (Fundação Getúlio Vargas, Rio de Janeiro, or Department of Portuguese and Brazilian Studies, Brown University), he has participated in research projects (Foundation for Science and Technology or Catholic University of Milan) and collaborated in collective works, such as "História de Portugal (1960-2000)", volume organized by António Costa Pinto for the Mapfre Foundation (Madrid), published by Objetiva/Penguin Random House. Translator of dozens of foreign authors, especially Jack Goody, Quentin Skinner or Pierre Bourdieu, his main books are: "Portuguese Literary Field (1960-1998)" (Difel, 2002), "The Biography of a Marginal: Luiz Pacheco" (Tinta-da-China, 2011), "What is it like to be a Marginal? Sociology of Literature" (Verbo, 2013), "Premature Babies. A survey on Neonatal Public Policies" (FFMS, 2014), "Mota Pinto: The Biography of a Prime-Minister" (Contraponto, 2016), "O Super-Camões. Biography of Fernando Pessoa", and "The Empire on our Shoulders: Returnees, Racism and Post-Colonialism" (Objetiva/Penguin Random House, 2020).
