Joana Monteiro holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Mining Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP). She played an active role in the CAVALI project at FEUP, contributing significantly to the study of lithium hydrometallurgy. Subsequently, she worked as a researcher in the European INN4MIN project. This over-all professional experience gave her important data analysis to pursue a PhD, meanwhile, she has been awarded an FCT scholarship. Her doctoral research focuses on the development of sustainable methods for the physical and chemical processing of lithium ores, making a significant contribution to the advancement of environmentally friendly practices in the extraction of critical minerals.
