Julie Cécile Caroline Ribot completed her PhD in 2006 by Université Paul Sabatier Toulouse III, France. During her PhD, made important contributions to the characterization of the development of regulatory T cells in the murine thymus. In 2007, she joined the Instituto de Medicina Molecular-João Lobo Antunes in Lisbon as a postdoc, before being awarded in 2015 and 2021 prestigious 5-year contracts funded by FCT/ Portuguese Ministry of Science. She has embraced this outstanding opportunity towards establishing her scientific independence and developing new lines of research, driven by her passion of questioning how the immune system impacts on tissue physiology. Supported by her host institute, she has recently been selected as Group Leader to co-head the Ribot Silva Santos lab at iMM (2023). She is currently supervising one post-doctoral fellow, one Master student and two Research Fellows. while had also successfully supervised 5 Master students (all of them have integrated competitive PhD programs), and two pHD students (both now working for famous pharmaceutical companies). Her independent line of research has recently identified a meningeal immune population that regulate neuropathophysiology, namely regulating short-term memory in health (Ribeiro et al, Science Immunology, 2019) and disease (Brigas et al, Cell Reports, 2021). She published 2 sections of books and 31 articles in journals, including 11 (co-) first and 9 senior authorships (h factor: 22, over 3000 citations) . She participated in 40 events, gave 28 oral presentations and has received 21 awards. She participated as Principal investigator in 5 projects, co-Principal investigator in 1 project, Researcher in 1 project and Post-doc in 1 project. As principal investigator, she has been awarded 1 FCT Investigator grant (including exploratory funding) as well as 4 project grants, 3 from FCT and 1 from FIS-INFARMED, securing over 700 000 euros. She is regularly invited to act as examiner in PhD and MSc dissertations at Portuguese and French academic institutions, and has been involved in advanced teaching at University of Lisbon, as invited lecturer for the Lisbobimed and NeurULisboa PhD Programs and Perseptorship in Immunology.
