.Luis Manuel Ribeiro Saraiva completed his PhD in Mathematics in 1985 in the University of Sussex. He is an Associate Professor at the University of Lisbon, member of the Center for Mathematics, Fundamental Applications and Operational Research and of the Interuniversity Center for the History of Science and Technology. He published 23 articles in specialized journals and 18 international conference papers. He wrote 10 book chapters. He has edited, alone or in collaboration, 19 books, of which 16 are of Proceedings of international meetings, including those of the first 5 meetings on "History of Mathematical Sciences: Portugal and East Asia". He is currently editing, together with Lim Jongtae, of Seoul University, the Proceedings of the 6th Meeting. He is a full member of the International Academy of History of Science and a corresponding member of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences

The ICHM is a liaison committee between the International Mathematical Union and the History of Science division of the International Union for the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology (IUHPST). The aim of the Commission is to encourage the study of the History of Mathematics, and to promote high mathematical and historical standards in this field, through the awarding of prizes, scholarships, and support for events in this area.
