In 2023, Leonor successfully concluded the Integrated Master in Pharmaceutical Sciences (17/20, ECTS grade A) by the University of Porto Faculty of Pharmacy. During her undergraduate studies, in 2021, Leonor was also a research trainee at Applied Chemistry Lab, Dep. Chemical Sciences at the Faculty of Pharmacy, U.Porto., under the supervision of Prof.ª Marcela Segundo. There, she had the opportunity to study the applicability of smartphones for colorimetric analysis of antibiotics in natural waters. During this period, Leonor developed the scientific poster: Digital image analysis-a comparative study, presented at IJUP2021. In 2022, Leonor was also a research trainee at the UCIBIO Mitochondria and Neurobiology Lab, at the Faculty of Pharmacy, U.Porto, under the supervision of Prof. Jorge Oliveira. There, she had the opportunity to do preliminary research on the development of a disease model for Wolcott-Rallison Syndrome using zebrafish. As part of the optional subject Project I, Leonor developed a scientific report (graded with a 19 out of 20) about the potential of pharmaceutical inhibition of PERK to induce characteristic Wolcott-Rallison Syndrome phenotypes in zebrafish and the applicability of zebrafish to establish a disease model that would allow screening of potential treatments. Leonor also developed an oral presentation: A Wolcott-Rallison Syndrome Model in Zebrafish induced by PERK inhibition, presented at IJUP2022. For this oral presentation Leonor was awarded with Best Oral Communication in Health Sciences. The data collected by Leonor during Project 1 was also used for presentations in meetings of the Portuguese Pharmacology Society and the pre-print paper: “PERK inhibition in zebrafish mimics human WRS phenotypes”. In 2023, Leonor carried out two curricular internships: an internship at Hospital Privado de Braga (Jan 2023 - Fev 2023) pharmacy and an internship at Farmácia da misericórdia de Braga (Mar 2023 - Jul 2023) where she worked part-time.
