Patrícia Lopes is Adjunct Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering of the School of Engineering (ISEP)- Polytechnic Institute of Porto, since 2015. Currently, as an integrated researcher member of the research unit CONSTRUCT- Institute of R&D in Structures and Constructions, has been developing scientific work within the strategic line of research dedicated to railway infrastructures, being author and co-author of several scientific papers published in international journals and in proceedings of national and international congresses. Has developed scientific activity in the area of civil and geotechnical engineering, being the current research area soil dynamics and numerical modelling of vibrations in geotechnical ground, with special emphasis on problems related to vibrations induced by railway traffic. The main research interests are propagation of human-induced vibrations, with particular focus on problems related to railway traffic in tunnels, numerical modelling of vibrations induced by rail traffic.
