Raquel Xavier graduated in Biology in 2004 (University of Lisbon), did her MSc in Biodiversity and Genetic Resources in 2008 (University of Porto, Centro de Investigação em Biodiversidade e Recursos Genéticos-CIBIO). She has completed her PhD in Biology in 2011 (University of Porto). She was a post-doc fellow between 2012-2016 in Cardiff University and CIBIO. She is currently an Auxiliary Researcher in InBIO (contracts IF/00359/2015; and 2020.00854.CEECIND). She has published more than 40 papers in SCI-indexed journals, with more than of 80 co-authors. She obtained 347k EUR of salary grants, 454k EUR from 3 project grants as a PI, and 1 M EUR as team member in national and international project grants (totaling ca 1.7M EUR). All the projects as PI involve international academic collaborations (National Science foundation (NSF), USA; National Research Network for Low Carbon Energy and Environment (NRNLCEE), UK) and/or partners from the fish farming industry. Her main research interests are: Microbiology; parasites; infectious diseases; Host-microbiome interactions; Evolution; Ecology; She is the supervisor of 3 ongoing PhD students, and she has supervised 1 Post-Doc, several MSc thesis and undergraduate students.
