Ana Paula Costa has Graduated in Paper Engineering by the University of Beira Interior- UBI (1990). Master’s Degree in Science and Technology of Paper and Forest Products by UBI/Aveiro University, July 1994. PhD in Paper Engineering/Docteur en Génie des Procédés Papetiers, UBI/Institut National Polytecnique de Grenoble, November 2001. Since 2001, she is currently Auxiliar Professor at the Chemistry Department of UBI (previously Assistant) developing Teaching and Research activities. She has been a member of the Board of the Portuguese Institute of Accreditation (IPAC) for ISO 17025 since 1989 until today. She has been elected member of the General Board of the University of Beira Interior since 2017 to 2020. Elected member of the Board of Directors of TECNICELPA - Portuguese Association of Technicians of the Industries of Pulp and Paper since 2011 until today. Regarding of teaching, she has been teaching several curricular units in the degrees of Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Paper Engineering, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, such as, Science and Technology of Materials, Chemistry I, Analytical Methods I and II, Science and Technology of the Materials, Hygiene, Safety and Quality, Preservation and Conservation, Paper Physics, Paper Technology I and II. In the research area, its main interests are the process and characterization of tissue paper and products, modification of cellulosic surfaces by cold plasma treatment, physical-mechanical characterization of cellulosic materials (pulp, paper, and cellulosic films, etc.). She has participated in several research projects funded by national and international programs. Author/co-author of several scientific articles in International Journals. Co-author of TECNICELPA 2007 Award in an event promoted by the Portuguese Association of the Technicians of Pulp and Paper Industries. Guest Editor in the Special Issue “Improvement in Physical Properties of Paper and Natural Fibers” of Polymers Journal by MDPI.
