Liane Moura obtained her Ph.D. in Biotechnology in 2013 (University of Coimbra). Liane is a member of the BioNanoSciences group at iMed.ULisboa. From 2014-2019, Liane was a Post-Doctoral fellow and used a rational approach to design multifunctional poly (glutamic acid)-dendrimers to target dendritic cells and co-deliver antigens and adjuvants for the activation of APC. Since 2019, Liane is a Junior Researcher in the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lisbon. Understanding the complexity of tumor microenvironment (TME) and how tumor-stromal-microbiota-neuro-immune cell interplay impacts the efficacy of cancer nanovaccines are major research interests of Liane. In parallel, Liane is working on the development of polymeric/polypeptide-based nanocarriers as immunotherapeutic approaches, able to conjugate and deliver different active biomolecules to immune and cancer cells, for cancer treatment. Liane has developed nano-engineered vaccines to modulate the tumor-associated microbiota and TME immune profiling for different cancers. Liane is the PI of a project “Nano-immunotherapy to regulate immune profiling and microbiome in pancreatic cancer”. Liane has been a core member within the team of other cancer nanoimmune-related research projects ongoing in the lab. Since 2018, Liane is involved in the support of practical classes teaching in the FFUL, having a postgraduate course in Pedagogy in Higher Education. Since 2023, Liane is a Guest Editor of Pharmaceutics Journal. Liane is the first author of 1 invited book chapter and 9 peer-reviewed international papers (plus 1 under revision) and co-author of the other 13 (plus 1 under revision; 1 submitted). She has 1688 citations and an h-index of 17 (by Scopus). The list includes top specialty journals (Nature Nanotechnology, Advanced Science, Seminars in Immunology). Liane has 20 communication abstracts published in international journals with impact factor, 29 selected oral communications, and 67 presentations as poster (2 as corresponding author). Liane has developed various collaborations and participated actively in laboratory management. She was awarded 12 grants from renowed scientific societies. She was involved in the organization of scientific meetings for the dissemination of science and she is a member of various national/international scientific societies. Liane has participated in diverse national and international funded projects (as Co-PI and team member). She supervises various undergraduate students (5 ongoing; 9 finished), master students (4 finished) as well as ERASMUS students (3 finished). Liane also participated as Jury member in Master Thesis.
