Marisa Cristo e Brito concluded a bachelor’s degree in Biology in 2020, at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto, and concluded a master’s degree in Plant Molecular Biology, Biotechnology and Bioentrepreneurship in 2022, at the University of Minho. During her academic and scientific path has pursued research topics related to the nutritional and sustainability challenges in the food production systems and faced by society. After completing her studies, she was a team member in the project IntegraValor - Integrated Strategy for the Valorization of Agrifood By-products at CEB. Throughout the project, she had the opportunity to work with agrifood industrial by-products with the purpose of biomass valorization, with an emphasis on the recovery of bioactive compounds. Currently, she is a team member in the project VIIAFOOD project - Valorization, Industrialization, and Commercial Innovation Platform for Agrifood at CEB, working in the development of new food products with alternative proteins and in the reuse and valorization of by-products from the food industry.
