Elisa Maria de Jesus da Silva

Born in Lisbon (Portugal), on the 29th of December 1970. Academic Degrees: 1996 - Civil Engineering Degree (geotechnical specialization) at the "Instituto Superior Técnico" (IST) of the Lisbon Technical University. Final average of 14 over 20; 1999 - Master Degree on Soil Mechanics, at the Science and Technology Faculty (FCT) of the New University of Lisbon. Final average of 15 over 20 for the academic period and Excellent ("Muito Bom") for the dissertation designated as “Uma Contribuição para a Interpretação do Ensaio Pressiométrico Autoperfurador em Argila”; 2013 - PhD. on Geotechnical Engineering concluded at “Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura" from University of Seville, Spain. Final average of 8.85 over 10 for the academic period and Excellent ("Sobresaliente Cum Laude con Unanimidad") for the dissertation designated as Consolidation of soft soil in the presence of band-shape drains. Between 1996 and 1997 was a researcher for the "Laboratoire de Mecanique des Sols, Structures et Materiaux, de L’Ecole Centrale Paris", after gaining the scholarship “Capital Humain et Mobilité – nºERBCHRXCT940694”, from the "Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique Francaise". Since 1998 is a Professor at Algarve University, lecturing Civil Engineering to the Bachelor and Master of Science degree Courses. Membership of Colleges, Sociaties and Associations: Member of the Portuguese Engineers College (OE), with Professional License Number 37776; Member of the Geotechnical Portuguese Society (SPG) and International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE), with the Number 252; Member of the Portuguese Association for Risk, Prevention and Security (RISCOS), with the number 101. Sub-delegate of the Engineers College, for Faro District Delegation, since 2019.
