Marlene Isabel Cerqueira Baptista

Marlene Isabel Cerqueira Montenegro Baptista, BSc in Biochemistry and MSc in Biotechnology by the University of Minho. Marlene Baptista completed her BSc (final grade of 16) in 2017, where she acquired knowledge in many fields, including Chemistry, Microbiology, Enzymology, Plant and Human Physiology, Genetics and Analytical Methods. The completion of the MSc came about in September 2019 with the defence of the Master thesis entitled "Glycanzyme - Characterization of novel enzymes for protein glycoengineering ", where she acquired several skills in the fields of microbiology, molecular biology, proteomics, bioinformatics, and analytical chemistry. From 2019 to March 2021 she was a research grant student working on the development of genetic markers to evaluate authenticity of dairy products under the scope of the project "ProDOP Serra da Estrela: Proteção, Promoção e Potencialização do queijo Serra da Estrela". Currently, she is a PhD student in Chemical and Biological Engineering at the Centre of Biological Engineering (CEB, University of Minho) working on the development of engineered non-conventional yeast strains able to produce high-value compounds from agro-industrial residues.
