Jorge S Dias (b. 1975) is since December 2018 a Researcher at the Chemistry Department, NOVA School of Science and Technology (FCT-NOVA). He is a member of the “(Bio)molecular structure and interaction by NMR” research Lab at the Applied Molecular Biosciences Unit (UCIBIO) as an independent researcher and a member of the Research Infrastructure "Portuguese Network in NMR Spectroscopy - PTNMR". Jorge S Dias obtained his 5-year College degree (licenciatura) in Biochemistry in 1998 (School of Sciences of University of Lisbon - FCUL) and a PhD in Structural Biochemistry in 2006 (Universidade Nova de Lisboa). From 2015-2018 Jorge S Dias was a Science and Technology Manager of the Research Infrastructure "Portuguese Network in NMR Spectroscopy - PTNMR" supporting the coordinator of the network Eurico J Cabrita. During this period he was involved in all aspects of grant writing of the funded research infrastructure 022161 (total funding - € 6.130.154,00; FCT-NOVA funding - € 1.148.251,00), organised 2 international conferences, 2 conference cycles at the Chemistry Department, FCT-NOVA, monitored the conversion of the NMR lab at the Chemistry Department, FCT-NOVA, and the installation of the new 500 MHz magnet. He was responsible for magnetic maintenance (including liquid Helium filling, weekly liquid Nitrogen filling and cryoprobe maintenance). From 2011-2015 he was an Assistant Researcher at the Chemistry Department, FCT-NOVA, with a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship under the Welcome2 program, FCT-MCTES. From 2006-2010 he was a Post-Doctoral fellow in the laboratory of Brian F Volkman at the Department of Biochemistry, Medical College of Wisconsin, USA. During the last 5 years as a researcher/Science and Technology Manager Jorge S Dias has published five (5) research papers, is a member of seven (7) funded research projects, plus the research infrastructure PTNMR, is going to supervised 1 PhD student (from 1 Aug 2022 –fellowship funded by FCT), 1 research fellow under a research project, 3 masters students (1 ongoing), and 9 bachelors thesis. He has presented work in 4 international conferences. He has taught several classes (undergraduate level, masters and PhD courses) at FCT-NOVA. In 2018 he was an invited assistant professor at Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias Escola de Psicologia e Ciências da Vida, Portugal, responsible for the implementation and teaching of the Analytical Chemistry class, theoretical and laboratory class, of the newly Biochemistry degree (bachelors degree).
