A. Catarina Guedes. Researcher in Algal Biotechnology, in CIIMAR/UP - Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research, since 2011. She graduated with a Microbiology degree (2002), and a PhD degree in Biotechnology specialty Microbiology (2010) from the Portuguese Catholic University. Nowadays, she has more than 30 research papers in scientific journals, co-authored more than 15 book chapters in internationally published books, 11 oral presentations and c. 35 communications in scientific meetings. Her research interest includes the production, extraction and characterization of bioactive compounds from micro- and macroalgae. Invited Assistant Professor at the School of Biotechnology (ESB) and the Institute of Health Sciences (ICS) - Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) between 2006-2011; and Invited Assistant Professor at the Instituto Superior da Maia (ISMAI) between 2011-2012. Substitute national delegate at COST Action ES1408 - European network for algal-bioproducts (EUALGAE), between 2015-2018. Board member of the Portuguese Association of Applied Algology (APAA) 2014-2023. Founder as a direct entrepreneur (ISS Ínclita Seaweed Solutions Lda) dedicated to the commercialisation of Blue Growth related technologies, e.g. seaweed extracts.
