Ana Duarte Rodrigues is an Associate Professor in the Department of History and Philosophy of Sciences and the coordinator of the Interuniversity Center for the History of Sciences and Technology (CIUHCT). She has a multidisciplinary background that combines art history, particularly in the Early Modern period, with garden and landscape studies, and the history of science and technology, having spent time at internationally renowned academic institutions such as the Warburg Institute at the University of London and Harvard's Dumbarton Oaks. Her resume includes over 150 publications and the coordination of three projects funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology. Among her books as author, editor or co-editor, the following stand out: 'The History of Water Management in the Iberian Peninsula between the 16th and 19th centuries' (Springer, 2020), 'O Triunfo dos Jardins. O pelouros dos Passeios e Arvoredos de Lisboa (1840-1900)' (BNP, 2020), 'Gardens and Human Agency in the Anthropocene' (Routledge, 2019), 'Uma História de Jardins. A Arte dos Jardins na Tratadística e na Literatura' (BNP, 2016). Her research covers a broad range of topics, notably using history as a lever to discover efficient solutions for water and energy savings, choices of botanical species adapted to biophysical conditions, emphasizing climate, and understanding gardens and landscapes as windows to reflect on various issues of the past, present, and future. She was awarded the Scientific Merit Award by the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon for two consecutive years, 2021 and 2022.
