Michael Benedetti completed his PhD in Geography at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2000. He is currently Full Professor in the Department of Earth and Ocean Sciences at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, and an Affiliated Researcher at the ICArEHB Center of the Universidade do Algarve. His expertise is in the areas of Physical Geography, Quaternary Geology and Geomorphology, Soil Science, and Geoarchaeology. His research investigates geomorphic responses to natural and anthropogenic environmental change. His recent projects have focused on late Quaternary sea level and climate change, landscape change in archaeological settings, and the influence of floods on sediment transport in large rivers.
