I graduated in Biology and completed a PhD in Ecology at the University of Lisbon. My current work focuses on understanding the unique interactions of light (photoperiod, irradiance, spectrum) with the photosynthetic systems of marine organisms, from micro and macroalgae to photosynthetic sea slugs. I am engaged in several projects on the optimization of macroalgal aquaculture. Since 2019, I am Assistant Researcher at the University of Aveiro. I currently supervise or co-supervise 5 PhD students and work in the same team with 5 post-doctoral fellows and junior researchers (https://mplab-kleptoslug.com/team/). My h-index is 29 (Scopus) and I have published over 80 papers in peer-reviewed international journals with >200 citations/year since 2020.
