Maria Papaioannou received the Diploma degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Patras, Greece, in 2016, and the Postgraduate Specialization Diploma M.Sc. degree in biomedical engineering from the University of Patras in 2018. Currently, she is pursuing the PhD degree in engineering with the University of Greenwich. Since 2018, she has been a member of the 4TELL Research Group - a visionary and cutting-edge research team within the Wireless Communications Research Area at the IT-Instituto de Telecomunicações, Aveiro-Portugal. She has been working in the European research project POCI-01-0247-FEDER-024539 5G Mobilizador (01/12/2018 – 31/01/2021) where the focus was on the deployment of a privacy-preserving user authentication protocol for Smart City applications and the European research project Secure and Wireless Multimodal Biometric Scanning Device for Passenger Verification Targeting Land and Sea Border Control (eBORDER), H2020-MSCA-RISE-2019-eBORDER-872878 (01/02/2021 – ongoing) where the focus is on the design and implementation of secure and usable user authentication mechanisms. She has been contributing in the European research projects: (i) Cyber Security for Cross Domain Reliable Dependable Automated Systems (SECREDAS), H2020-ECSEL-2017-2-RIA-two-stage, (ii) Introducing Recent Electrical Engineering Developments into undErgraduate cuRriculum (iREEDER) with teaching material for Cyber Security, and (iii) Accelerating Innovation in Microfabricated Medical Devices (Moore4Medical), H2020-ECSEL-2019-IA-876190. Her research interests include cryptography, authentication and access control mechanisms, and network and system security. She is volunteer, philanthropist, trilingual (English, Spanish and Greek), hard-working and willing to learn person.

(Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Columbia University, Yale University, Boston University, New York University, Maryland University) within an Educational Trip in USA organized by the ECE Department.
