I was born in Milan in 1967, I am married, and the father of two young men. I enrolled in the Facoltà d'Architettura, Politecnico di Milano in 1986. In the academic year 1990-1991, I obtained a 9-month Erasmus scholarship to study at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura, Universidad de Valladolid, following a project course taught by Professor Antón Capitel. In the academic year 1992-1993, I secured a non-pecuniary Erasmus scholarship to the Faculty of Architecture of Lisbon, where I developed the end-of-course project under the guidance of the architect João Luís Carrilho da Graça. I completed the course in 1993, embracing Portuguese culture and adopting the city of Lisbon as my own. My professional and academic career can be divided into two phases: the first, from 1993 to 2011, primarily focused on individual and collaborative architectural production, with some foray into the academic field; the second phase, from 2012 to 2023, concentrated on doctoral research and teaching, with occasional involvement in architectural production. I worked at JLCG Architects from 1993 until the end of 1996, living in Macau between 1994 and 1995 to monitor the construction of the São Paulo Ruins Rehabilitation and Museum Project. In 1997, I opened a studio in Lisbon. The significant challenge explored in the studio was the integration of passive principles in architectural design, tested particularly in competitions. Design, scenography, curating, and teaching complemented my disciplinary field of action. At nbAA, the following projects were developed: 38 public and invitational competitions for buildings, 16 private projects, 9 scenography for theater, 10 exhibition projects, and 6 design objects. Some projects received awards abroad and were published internationally. I closed the company in 2012, not before publishing the book "fuNking life," showcasing the most relevant reflections and works developed over a decade. I returned to studies in 2012 at the University of Évora, on the Ph.D. course in architecture (1st edition), conducting an investigation, using research by design methodology, on low-cost passive strategies applicable to poor housing in Brazil. In 2014, I returned to teaching (full-time), at the Faculty of Architecture INTA in Sobral, Brazil, for two years. In 2023, I obtained my PhD degree from the University of Évora. My current interest is teaching and research, in a position where research, discussion, and sharing can play an important role in the disciplinary response to current planetary challenges.
