Curriculum Vitae

I have a PhD in terrestrial ecosystems (UVigo, Spain. 2016). I’ve 62 months of experience abroad at different research centres in Portugal (FCUP, GreenUPorto and CIIMAR) through different funding schemes, including two projects as PI funded by CNRS and FCT. I’m currently with a JdCi contract at the Univ. of Vigo (from 01/05/2022), where I’m developing my research line about emerging contaminants (EC) (microplastics, antibiotics, etc) on terrestrial ecosystems. My scientific research has been mainly focused on metal contamination in SUITMAs (urban, industrial and military areas) and the impact of EC soil properties and ecotoxicological impacts. My track record demonstrates a high level of achievement as an independent researcher and growing recognition as an international research leader in my field. My research output is excellent, both in quantity and quality, for my field and career stage (7 years post PhD). I have published 42 articles in WoS-indexed journals and 10 book chapters, where I’m first (20), second (6), last (10) or corresponding author (22) of these publications, including 1 highly cited paper (WoS) as 1st author. Most of these publications are in collaboration with international researchers (76 international co-authors), including 13 publications without my PhD/postdoc lab. collab./supervisors. I’m author/co-author of 52 communications to national/int. conferences/workshops (15 as oral comm., and 4 invited) and co-edited 3 books of abstracts with ISBN. My h-index is 18/20, ~1383/1764 citations (>250/300 cites/year in last 3 years) (Scopus/GS databases). Besides, my research has been used in different news for general audiences and policy documents. I have secured more than 320k € through the application of highly competitive postdoc contracts as PI (i.e., FCT Junior Researcher and JdCi) and a research project funded by CNRS (France); WP leader in the BIOoservicES Horizon Europe project; task leader in SoilDiverAgro and AGROSUS HE projects; committee management member in a Cost Action, a researcher for InbestSoil and MRV4SOC HE projects, a researcher in 3 regional/national projects in Spain and Portugal and investigator in 8 funding projects for research centres at regional and national level. I got positive evaluations as PAD, PUP and PCD certificates (ANECA, 2017). Teaching experience on 11 BSc and MSc subjects (> 200h) in Spain/Portugal, including the coordination of different subjects. I’ve experienced in training and supervising students: 1 PhD candidate (expected Oct 24), 3 MSc and 4 BSc students with different publications as a result of this training. I was also co-organizing committee member of 3 int. conferences (PPS2014, CISDS2020, SCAS2022), co-chaired 2 sessions, and scientific comm. member for 4 conferences. Besides, I’m academic editor at PlosOne, associated editor at Air, Soil and Water Research, and editorial board member in Open Agriculture, J. of Hazardous Materials Advances and Front. in Soil Science, co-edited different special issues and reviewer for near 70 WoS journals (~35 reviews/year). Finally, I’m a project evaluator for H2020/HE calls (European Commission), Croatian and Czech Science Foundations, Central Finance and Contracting Agency (Latvia), National Science Centre (Poland), and the European Science Foundation.
