Beatriz Monteiro G. Casquinho is a PhD fellow in Psychology at ISCTE-CIS in Lisbon, Portugal. Her PhD project is funded by FCT and titled "When what we want is not what you need: Understanding social change in asymmetric group relations" under the supervision of Prof. Rita Guerra. She has Bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of Lisbon and a Masters degree in Applied Cognitive Psychology from the University of Bologna. Her interest in Social Psychology comes from her Master¿s thesis in the consequences of positive and negative intergroup contact experiences in perceived discrimination of immigrants in Italy. Under the supervision of Prof. Monica Rubini, she graduated with a laurea cum laude. She is interested in intergroup relations, social identity threat, group-based needs and emotions, morality and interventions for prejudice reduction. She has previous experience working in research in these areas by collaborating until the present moment with Professors Félice van Nunspeet and Naomi Ellemers from the Organizational Behavior Research Group at Utrecht University in several projects related to the biopsychosocial model, framing effects in diversity and morality issues, and models for social evaluation, that have been submitted to publication and scientific communications. She has also collaborated previously with Prof. Rita Guerra in the kNOwHATE with the goal of finding ways to fight online hate speech in Portuguese language. Given her passion in finding ways to link social psychology research with community and individual interventions, she is always finding ways to integrate her research activities with practice in the field. She is a part of the Portuguese Psychological Association (OPP nº 26419) and has worked in an Intercultural Association for woman and children victims of violence (refugees, immigrants and domestic violence victims) and as a psychologist in inclusive and intercultural clinical practices, helping people in dealing with issues related to their social identities, discrimination and prejudice, group emotions and collective trauma.

2024/08/25 - 2024/08/27 The EASP Small Group Meeting provided a platform for initiating and fostering large collaborative research activities and discussing the “hot topics” in intergroup contact research that need to be addressed collaboratively in future research. Unlike “traditional” conferences formats, which mainly focus on presenting recently conducted research projects, this small-group meeting was very practical with a strong focus on future research. The meeting provided ample opportunity for networking and exchange about future research questions and ideas.
