I have been a teacher at FLUL since 1985; in 1985 also, I graduated in Modern Languages and Literatures – Port./French (17/20). My first contract with FLUL, as a monitor, was signed while I was an undergraduate student (1983); I started working in 1981 (assistant in a library). I obtained a master’s degree in Port. Literature in 1991, with a dissertation on a 17th-century Port. travel narrative (Very Good); in 2000, I obtained a Ph.D., also in Port. Lit: To Know How to Live, to Know How to Die: The Fictional Image of Love in Aquilino Ribeiro (Summa cum Laude). I am therefore a specialist in Port. Studies, with a focus on the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries. I was invited to become a junior researcher at CLEPUL in 1988. I highlight 4 projects: Dic. de Personagens de Camilo Castelo Branco (Dictionary of C.C.B.'s Characters), team researcher; Antologia Crítica do Conto Português (Critical Anthology of the Port. Short Story), co-principal researcher (PI); Anuário (Yearbook), co-PI (we organise diverse types of scientific meetings); Bibliografia do Conto Português, XIX-XX, PI (database of Port. short stories; affected by the COVID pandemic as it involves a great deal of reading in libraries). I list management positions: member of the Executive Board of the Department. of Romance Literatures; co-founder and director of the Asian Studies degree; coord. of the Research Group 1 of CLEPUL (2018-2023) and director (April 2022-); member of the Board of the Camilo Castelo Branco Chair (2021- ); member of FLUL’s Scientific Council (2024- ). As an educator and researcher, I have strived to impart sound knowledge to my students and maintain the high standards of organisation, external image, and scientific rigor at CLEPUL. In my role as a teacher and citizen, I believe that work should serve the collective good.
