Iwona Kuzniarska-Biernacka completed the PhD in coordination chemistry in 2001/02/14 by Wroclaw University of Science and Technology and MSc in Chemistry in 1996/07/01 by Siedlce University of Natural Sciences and Humanities. In 2015, joined the University Porto as a FCT postdoc researcher and integrated Associated Laboratory for Green Chemistry (LAQV@REQUIMTE) to work on environmental catalysis. In 2018 started a new research line focused on photocatalysis for water treatment and for biomass valorization. Results of her scientific researches, in the field of Chemistry, were presented in 53 scientific papers (h index 16), 4 book chapters and at 87 scientific conferences (in the form of 19 oral and 68 poster presentations and 5 invited lectures from these 4 at Department of Materials Science University of Silesia, Sosnowiec, Poland, and 1 at Department of Materials Engineering and Welding, Gdansk University of Technology, Gdansk, Poland. She participated in 13 research projects (funded by FCT), and she was PI of 1. She joined the topical advisory panel of Molecules (IF=4.6), and she was guest editor of 2 especial issues, also of American Journal of Chemical Engineering and Molecules (IF=4.2) where she was guest editor of 1 especial issue. She has large experience in student supervising. She supervised 8 MSc dissertations (from these 2 co-supervised), 2 students under ERASMUS Internship program (Master Degree), co-supervised 22 students of course completion of LSc/BSc and and 22 students of PEEC (Extra-curricular training programs of FCUP). She is reviewer of several journals from RSC, Elsevier, ACS, Wiley Springer and MDPI, jury member for Higher Education Diplomas. She has received 2 awards and/or honors. She organized 7 events and participated in 7 workshops. Her core scientific and technological activities are: Design and Fabrication of Advanced Hybrid / Composite Nanomaterials, Eco-Sustainable Catalysis, Economic Valorization and Sustainable & Cost-Effective Manufacturing Processes.
