Patrícia Alves is a PhD student at University of Minho, under a FCT doctoral research grant, hosted at ALGORITMI Centre - School of Engineering of University of Minho, in collaboration with the Research Group on Intelligent Engineering and Computing for Advanced Innovation and Development (GECAD) - School of Engineering, Polytechnic of Porto (ISEP-IPP). She is also a Guest Assistant Professor, at ISEP-IPP. She has a Master Degree in Informatics and Computing Engineering (Integrated Master, MIEIC) from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto (FEUP); and a Degree in Chemistry (Pre-Bologna) from the Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto (FCUP). During her academic formation she got several research grants funded by FCT in the Computer Science and Informatics area, and was awarded the prize for the second best paper at the Pro-VE 2012 conference, Bournemouth, United Kingdom. Her main areas of interest are Artificial Intelligence, (Group) Recommender Systems; Affective Computing; Gamification and Augmented Reality Pervasive Games. In the past she worked as a Software Engineer in Information Technology companies but now she is fully committed to the research field. Currently, she is working on a project related to Context-Aware Group Recommender Systems in Tourism.
