Inês F. A. Mariz is currently a Junior Researcher at Centro de Quimica Estrutural (CQE) in the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), University of Lisbon. She graduated in Chemical Engineering at Instituto Politécnico de Bragança in 2003. She carried out his PhD in 2011 in Applied Chemistry and Polymeric Materials at the University of the Basque Country in Spain. Her research was done within the "Industrial Liaison Program" with international industrial companies focusing on the polymerization of nanoparticles for water-borne paints. During the PhD program, she spent three months at Akzo Nobel International Paints (NewCastle, UK) where she published her first scientific work. In 2012, she was awarded a Post-doctoral grant from the Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT) at the group of Optical Multifunctional Materials of Centro de Química-Física Molecular (CQFM) at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST). In November 2018 she was awarded a junior research position at the same group at IST. Her research field concerns polymers and colloids, emulsion polymerization and controlled polymerization, polymer films, fundamental photochemistry and photophysics with special interest for Two Photon Absorption (TPA) fluorescent molecular materials tailored for applications in 3D-data storage media, 3D-bioimaging and theragnostic. She is also interested in the tools needed to address them: steady-state and time resolved optical spectroscopy, two-photon fluorescence microscopy, Raman Spectroscopy and nanoparticles characterization techniques (DLS, TEM). She published 20 original papers in international peer-reviewed journals, 12 in the last 5 years (2015-2020), in top journals (Q1 in Materials Chemistry, Q1 in Medicine (miscellaneous), Q1 in Chemical Engineering (miscellaneous)). Two of them were selected for a journal cover. Her work was cited 240 times contributing to a H-index of 10, the average citations per item is 12 and the average citations per year 24 (Source: publons.com, 2/2020). Her work has been done with several national and international collaborations, in a publication she proved research independence. She also presented several oral and poster communications in national and international conferences. She is involved as team member in several research projects financed by FCT. She has also been involved in the supervision of master and PhD students and guidance of post-doctoral researchers. In addition, she has acted as referee in some international journals in her area of expertise. She was also involved in the organization of science dissemination activities such as conferences and science fairs. In the last year she was finalist of the Lab2Market@Técnico2019 which is a technological transfer acceleration program with collaboration with Everis and i-Deals. She suspended their activities two times for maternity leave (in 2013/2014 and 2017/2018).
