Dr Neil Ormerod is Principal Researcher at the CinTurs Research Centre for Tourism, Sustainability and Well-being, Universidade do Algarve, Portugal. Neil's research focuses on evaluative studies within the fields of tourism, events, business, and policy. Between 2014 and 2022 Neil was Research Fellow at the School of Events, Tourism and Hospitality Management, Leeds Beckett University, UK. Neil has conducted or delivered major contributions to over 20 applied evaluative research projects. These include a series of policy-related research studies for public and private sector clients including the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), Meetings Professional International (MPI), Sport England, Sport Wales, Rugby Football League (RFL), Leeds City Council, Doncaster Council, Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, and Yorkshire Cricket Foundation. Prior to joining Leeds Beckett University, Neil undertook a three-year ESRC Case Studentship funded socio-economic evaluation of a European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) tourism development in South West England, in partnership with the University of Exeter and Forestry Commission England. Neil received his Doctor of Philosophy in Management in 2014/03/11 from the University of Exeter Business School, To date, Neil has published 9 academic journal articles, 1 book and 2 book chapters. He has also authored or co-authored 15 project reports for external research clients. In 2019, he received a research impact award from the Council for Hospitality Management Education for his research on problem gambling in Leeds, UK. In his project work Neil has participated as Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) in 13 projects and Principal investigator in 7 projects.
