Maria Cândida Lobo Guerra Vilarinho. Graduated in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Porto and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minho. Associate Professor at University of Minho, Department of Mechanical Engineering, in the disciplinary area of Materials / Mechanical of Materials. Her R&D activity is developed at Metrics - Center for Mechanical Engineering and Resource Sustainability, in the fields of materials science and technology, eco-materials, waste management and treatment, life cycle analysis / carbon footprint and circular economy. Her research activity resulted in different scientific articles published in international and national journals and also disseminated in conferences, as well as in the participation in national and international research projects (H2020, ERA-NET LAC and Interreg) as Coordinator and / or Researcher. Chairman of the Administrative Board of CVR - Center for Waste Valorization by appointment of the Rector of the University of Minho. Director of the Doctoral Program in Waste Management and Treatment at the University of Minho. President of the Organizing Committee of the international conference WASTES: Solutions, Treatments and Opportunities and member of the scientific committee of different national and international conferences. Editorial Director of CVRs magazine Waste Valorization. She has supervised 8 PhD thesis (5 finished), more than 30 finished master thesis and several project research assistants. She has participated in more than 50 national and international projects and has been Principal Investigator in 24 of them. She has international collaborations with several institutions such as Santiago de Compostela University (Spain), Institute for Food and Environmental Research (Germany), Zaragoza University (Spain), Bologna University (Italy) and Institut National Polytechnique de Toulouse (France).
