Izamara Maocha has a degree in Biomedicine from the Federal University of Goiás (Brazil) and obtained her master's degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Beira Interior in 2021. She recently worked as a research fellow on the PAPILOMA project ref: CENTRO-01-0145-FEDER-181235 at the Health Sciences Research Centre (CICS-UBI) of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Beira Interior and she is currently an FCT PhD fellow (re. PRT/BD/154597/2022) at the same research centre. Her work is based on the development of formulations conjugated with nucleic acid aptamers as alternatives in the anticancer and antiviral treatment of lesions caused by the Human Papilloma Virus. She has experience in cell culture, development and physicochemical characterisation of vaginal formulations, production of aptamer-based nanoparticles for HPV cancer lesions, biophysical techniques and in vitro and ex vivo tests. She also has experience with nasal nanoemulsions and microemulsions, acquired during her participation as a research fellow in the SAIN - Segesterone Acetate Intranasal Nanoemulsion project under reference CENTRO-01-0145-FEDER-181231.
