Daniel Miranda, graduated in Physics and Chemistry at the University of Minho, Portugal in 2005. In 2008, he obtained the MSc degree in Physics from the University of Minho. During his MSc thesis, he worked on Materials, Nanoscience, Nanotechnology, Processing and characterization on poly(vinylidene fluoride) doped with nano-silver particles. In 2017 he earned his PhD in Physics from the University of Minho, Portugal, with thesis theme: Optimizing performance of rechargeable lithium-ion batteries through computer simulations. From 2011 to 2019, he was an Assistant Professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo. From 2016, he has been at the Science Department of the School of Technology, Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave, where he was an Assistant Professor (from 2016 to 2018) and currently he is Invited Adjunct Professor (since 2019). Currently, he is also Director of the Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the School of Technology (EST) of the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave (IPCA), Director of CTeSP in Renewable Energy and Sustainable Systems at the School of Technical Short Cycles (ETESP) of the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave (IPCA), Member of the Scientific Committee of the Master in Applied Artificial Intelligence at IPCA, Member of the Scientific Committee of the Master in STEAM Education Support Technologies at IPCA, Integrated Member/Researcher of 2Ai Laboratory at IPCA, Member of the Intelligent Systems Associate Laboratory (LASI), Member of the Technical-Scientific Council of the School of Technology (EST) of IPCA, Member of the Pedagogical Council of the School of Technology (EST) of IPCA, Program Coordinator of Advanced Courses - 2Ai/EST, Chairs the Evaluation and Quality Committee of 2Ai Laboratory at IPCA, Member of Communication and Dissemination Committee of 2Ai Laboratory at IPCA and researcher of Electroactive Smart Materials Research Group at the University of Minho. He is currently focused on the development of theoretical models of lithium-ion batteries through computational simulation (Finite Elements Method) and computational simulation and modelling applied in energy, energy systems, storage energy applications. Also, his current research interests focus on the development of theoretical models and computational simulation applied in different areas, such as: supercapacitors, materials science (materials for energy applications: electrodes and battery separators), industrial applications and technologies (robotic, sensors, mechanics devices, thermodynamic systems, fluidic and microfluidic systems, electrical and electronic devices), health technologies (diagnostic systems and medical devices), simulation systems and serious games. In computational simulation and modelling applied in energy, energy systems, storage energy applications Daniel Miranda has achieved novel and relevant contributions. Thus, his works have been published in high ranked journals, such as Advanced Energy Materials, Energy Journal, Applied Energy, Energy Storage Materials, Sustainable Materials and Technologies, Electrochimica Acta, Sensors and Actuators B: Chemical, Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry and Macromolecular Materials and Engineering. Daniel Miranda published a total of 22 international peer-reviewed journals - as first or last author (12) or co-author (10), 1 magazine article, 12 conference papers in international conferences (11 papers published and 1 paper accepted for publication), 10 oral presentations in international/national conferences and 13 posters. He has an h-index of 14 (Scopus). Daniel Miranda was also a member of the Program Committee of 9 international conferences and an organizer of 9 international conferences. He reviewed a total of 35 articles for international journals. Additionally, he participated in 6 projects (researcher),2 projects (promoter and Co-Principal Research).
