Margarida Brito graduated in Chemical Engineering from the University of Porto in June 2016. She integrated the LSRE-LCM (lsre-lcm.fe.up.pt) research team in September 2016, as project researcher. In February 2017, she started her PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering with a FCT fellowship (PD/BD/135060/2017). In the scope of her PhD, she was at the University of Manchester in 2018 for four months studying the mixing of high viscous fluids in non-inertial regimes. In 2021, she got her PhD degree with the thesis entitled "Mixing Mechanisms in 2D Reactors", where she developed new skills, such as in flow visualization experimental techniques (Planar Laser Induced Fluorescence) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools. Then, she pursued her PostDoc studies at LEPABE (lepabe.fe.up.pt) in the project HyGreen&LowEmissions (NORTE-01- 0145- FEDER-000077). During her post-doctoral activities, Margarida was at Laboratoire Génie Chimique (LGC- INP) in Toulouse from September 2022 to January 2023, studying experimentally the mechanisms that control the particle suspensions in continuous oscillatory flow reactors. Currently, she is a junior researcher of the BioShoes4All project (PRR - 000011) at LSRE-LCM. In 2023, she was awarded the EFCE Young Researcher Award in Mixing 2023 by the European Federation of Chemical Engineering and its Working Party on Mixing for the innovation, breadth and depth of her research on 2D reactors and the dissemination of the results. She has published 21 papers in peer-reviewed journals (9 as first author and 6 as the corresponding author). In parallel to her research activities, since 2019 she has been an Invited Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP). In January 2023 and January 2025, she was awarded the Pedagogical Excellence Award from FEUP, which distinguishes the lecturers by their educational models of excellence.
